Trying to find corrugated metal or zinc roof repair services in Somerset/England? Certified roofing experts in Somerset/England can offer you reliable assessments for your corrugated or zinc roof.
Corrugated metal and zinc roofs are known for their lightweight design, making them ideal for homes, agricultural buildings, and commercial properties in the UK. However, with exposure to weather, these roofs are prone to:
– Oxidation in zinc panels
– Loose or damaged fixings
– Water ingress through overlaps
– Impact damage from debris
– Surface wear
If problems occur, timely repairs protect against costly replacements.
Benefits of corrugated metal and zinc roofing:
– Corrugated metal – Weather-resistant, with a classic industrial look
– Zinc roofing – Highly durable, offering self-healing properties
Common options include:
– Galvanized metal – Rust-resistant with a protective zinc coating
– Pre-painted sheets – Color-durable and ideal for residential use
– Standing seam zinc – Modern, perfect for curved roofs
Interestingly, zinc roofs often last for generations with proper care. Corrugated metal, while economical, also requires minimal upkeep.
Why schedule an inspection? Regular roof inspections can detect:
– Hidden issues
– Signs of aging materials
– Structural concerns

Watchet is a historic harbour town and civil parish in the English region of Somerset, with a population of approximately 3,785. Located 15 miles (24 kilometres) west of Bridgwater, 15 miles (24 kilometres) northwest of Taunton, and 9 miles (14 kilometres) east of Minehead, Watchet lies at the mouth of the Washford River on Bridgwater Bay, part of the Bristol Channel, and is adjacent to Exmoor National Park.
The town’s history dates back to the Iron Age, with the settlement likely beginning at Daw’s Castle. Over time, the settlement relocated to the river’s mouth, where a small harbour emerged, referred to by the Celts as “Gwo Coed,” meaning “Under the Wood.” After the Saxon conquest, Watchet grew into a thriving community, despite enduring Viking attacks in the 10th century.
The harbour became a centre for commerce, facilitating the transport of goods, including those from the Wansbrough Paper Mill. In the 19th century, iron ore from the Brendon Hills was transported via the West Somerset Mineral Railway to Newport and then to the Ebbw Vale Steelworks. Watchet was also served by the West Somerset Railway, which brought goods and people to the Bristol and Exeter Railway. By the early 20th century, the iron ore trade subsided, and the port transitioned to a smaller commercial trade before being transformed into a marina in 2000.
Watchet’s architectural heritage include the Church of Saint Decuman, believed to mark the site where Saint Decuman died around 706. An early church near Daw’s Castle was replaced by a newer church, which houses numerous monuments of the Wyndham family, the former lords of the manor. The harbourside also features a statue commemorating Samuel Taylor Coleridge’s famous poem, The Rime of the Ancient Mariner, written in the local area.
Watchet’s residential properties ranges from historic cottages to contemporary builds. The typical roofs in the area include slate, clay tiles, and thatch, which complement the coastal aesthetic. Flat roofs are also frequently used on newer constructions, providing modern functionality.
The weather in Watchet, marked by consistent showers and occasional gusts, poses challenges for roofing. Common problems include moss growth, cracked slates, and blocked gutters. Regular inspections and quick action help prevent costly damage.
For homeowners in Watchet looking for professional roofing services, choosing trusted experts is key. Local roofers source high-quality materials from trusted brands like Marley, Redland, and Sandtoft, ensuring excellent results. Look for roofers affiliated with the NFRC (National Federation of Roofing Contractors) or TrustMark for assured quality workmanship.
Whether you’re fixing leaks, modernising your roof, or planning a full replacement, Watchet is home to trusted tradespeople ready to assist. Submit your enquiry today for free quotes from qualified roofers, and ensure your home remains safe and visually appealing for years to come.
