quotation and some advice regarding the structural redesign of the roof at my property:
i have recently had a structural engineer carry out a full inspection of the property and they have produced a comprehensive structural report and calculations, which i have attached. the engineer is andy brown from design adapt and build ltd who has referred me to you.
the existing roof is a traditional cut roof (not a trussed roof). the engineer has found that previous alterations removed a number of the original structural members, causing the rear section of the roof to sag. previous attempts to strengthen it with props and additional purlins have failed, so the engineer has designed a complete structural strengthening scheme.
as your company specialises in roof design, engineered timber, roof trusses and floor joists, i wanted to ask whether you could review the drawings and advise on the most suitable solution.
the engineer has specified the following works:
replace the existing sagging rear roof rafters with new 47 x 145 c24/c25 rafters at 400mm centres.
    replace the split rear hip rafter with a built-up 126 x 195mm (2 x 63 x 195 c24) member bolted together.
    install 4 new floor binders (100 x 300 c24).
    install 2 new roof purlins (100 x 350 c24).
    install a new 75 x 200 c24 ridge beam.
install 6 new support struts (47 x 220 c24) between the purlins and binders.
install 63 x 220 c24 collar ties throughout the roof.
replace the ceiling joists where specified in the engineer’s calculations.
carry out all work in accordance with building control and the structural engineer’s design.
however, i noticed that the engineer also states in the calculations:
“if it is decided on site by the client or contractor to replace the entire roof, a roof truss company may be more suitable to design and supply the trusses and associated calculations.”
this is the reason i’m contacting you.
could you please let me know:
would you recommend repairing the existing cut roof in accordance with the engineer’s design, or replacing it with a completely new engineered trussed roof system?
if a new trussed roof would be a better long-term solution, would you be able to design, manufacture and supply the trusses and structural calculations?
do you also offer installation, or do you supply only?
could you provide a quotation for the appropriate solution after reviewing the attached reports?
i am looking to get this roof issue resolved asap so please also let me know your availability.
i can provide the report for a better idea of work required.
    thank you.

block of 6 flats, 3 floors of 2 flats each, approx 140 m^2 footprint. concrete tiles + bitumen felt underlay.
the underlay has largely perished and disintegrated (daylight visible). so i’m interested in an estimate for the cost of replacing the underlay and a possible re-tile.
it’s a traditional timber cut roof. haven’t been able to assess whether there’s any water damage to the timbers but not visible from a distance.
