I have an immediate need and a medium-term need.
It is clear my roof needs some work but I do not have the funds to do that yet. I was aware of it and have started putting money aside to address this later in the year.
My immediate need is related to one broken roof tile. It got displaced.
As a result, there are 2-3 tiles that need to be procured and replaced.
I did receive one quote which was extortionate as they want t put up scaffolding for what is just a 1- hour job. This has been confirmed.
I am looking for a roofer who can fix this immediate problem but also has the ability to work on a bigger project later in the year or in early 2026.
You are welcome to view the roof and the work needs to be done ASAP.
    A picture is below.
Please could you email me at *** if you are interested with an idea of your cost and when this can be completed.

    Hello

I am currently building a detached timber framed garage / workshop / potting shed with attached car port.

The garage building is 8500mm (Frontage) x 5850mm (Span)
The attached car port is 3800mm (Frontage) x 6850mm (Span)

Based on 600mm truss spacing I have calculated a requirement of:

    5850 span 22.5 degrees X 15

    6850 span 22.5 degrees X 6

The trusses for the carport will require the ridge to be in line with those of the garage with the additional 1000mm span being incorporated into the rear timbers

I would be grateful if you could give your advice on my calculations, provide a price including delivery in Heckmondwike and lead time.

    Many thanks

    Richard Ware

Ware is a historic market town in the East Hertfordshire district of Hertfordshire, England. With a population of approximately 18,000, Ware lies on the north-south A10 route, intersecting with the east-west A414. The town’s strategic location has made it a hub for commerce and connectivity. A notable feature is the large viaduct over the River Lea at King Meads, with the £3.6 million bypass completed in 1979, enhancing accessibility. Ware is also home to the Woodson Park Sports and Leisure Centre and Hanbury Manor, a hotel and country club. Archaeological evidence shows that Ware has been inhabited since the Mesolithic period, which ended around 4000 BC. The Romans are believed to have an established presence here, as evidenced by remnants of buildings found in the area. The town’s name dates back to the Anglo-Saxon period when weirs were built along the River Lea to halt Viking ships following a historic conflict near Ware. The River Lea was central to the town’s economy, supporting trade and transport for centuries. Ware’s history as a brewing town is well-known; barley was imported via the river, and beer was exported. Bargemen born in Ware enjoyed the ‘special privileges’, exempting them from paying lock dues, further enhancing the town’s economic vitality. Today, Ware blends history with modernity. The town hosts a significant business presence in GlaxoSmithKline, which operates a key facility locally. This connection with the town is reflected in its company museum, showcasing historic products. Ware’s housing stock includes quaint period homes to newer builds. Typical roofing materials in the area include slate, clay tiles, and concrete tiles, suited to the town’s architectural styles. Flat roofs are also common in modern extensions and commercial structures, offering functional options for urban settings. The climate in Ware, characterised by moderate rainfall and seasonal gusts, poses challenges to roofing. Homeowners often encounter moss growth, cracked slates, and clogged gutters, emphasising the need for regular inspections. Timely repairs are essential to avoid expensive fixes and preserve its structural integrity. For homeowners in Ware seeking roofing services, working with trusted professionals is key. Local roofers use trusted products from leading brands such as Marley, Redland, and Sandtoft, delivering superior results. Roofers affiliated with the NFRC (National Federation of Roofing Contractors) or TrustMark provide peace of mind and assurance of quality workmanship. Whether you’re addressing storm damage, modernising an older roof, or considering a complete renovation, Ware is home to vetted and experienced roofing experts. Get in touch now for no-obligation estimates from local experts, and protect your property.
