    Hi,

    I am looking for a rough quote / recommendations on some future asbestos removal at a property I am purchasing (139 Butneys, SS14 2DR). I have recently had a survey completed that has identified the following: “Materials suspected of containing asbestos have been identified in the following elements: Roof Structure, Ceilings, Floors and Outbuilding.”

    Roof structure
    “There is an old redundant asbestos cement water tank in the roof space. If it fits through the loft hatch it should be carefully removed by a licensed contractor. If not it should be properly sealed up and labelled by a licensed contractor. This tank should not be cut, drilled or disturbed.
    There is some old pipe insulation in the roof space. It is possible but by no means certain that this could have an asbestos content. If so this insulation will need removing by a licensed contractor.”

    Ceilings
    “The ceilings are formed of plasterboard with textured finishes. The textured finish in the property is defective/damaged in part. Such finishes may contain asbestos. A section of boarding on the ceiling in the boiler cupboard may have an asbestos content. If so this should be replaced by a licensed contractor. The textured finishes may contain asbestos. If undisturbed, these finishes pose no threat to health and no action is required.”

    Floors
    “The floor tiles in the hall may contain asbestos. They are damaged and need to be replaced. Such tiles also probably exist elsewhere beneath other finishes and these will also need replacing. Plastic floor tiles in the front right hand bedroom are poor and need replacing. If these tiles contain asbestos removal should be carried out by a licensed contractor.”

    Outbuilding
    “There is an outbuilding to the rear of the property. This has brick walls and a roof covered with asbestos cement sheets. The asbestos cement roof sheets are old and damaged and need to be replaced.”
